Summer Programs

Just because school is out doesn’t mean learning should stop! This summer, give your child the chance to connect with the natural world and learn in a fun and safe environment with Tanganyika’s summer camps! 

Summer Safari Camps

Summer camps at Tanganyika will provide your child with the most Wildly Different Experience imaginable! Each week focuses on a different unique and exciting theme. Your child will participate in interactive learning experiences, hands-on science-based activities, Park tours, and the opportunity to meet some of our Animal Ambassadors up close!

Junior Zookeeper Program

This exciting program was created for kids that really love animals and/or aspire to be be a zoo-keeper when they grow up. The program is designed to immerse them into the keeping experience as they get older. To accommodate various ages, we have developed multiple camp options.

Zoo Vet Program

The Zoo Vet Program will give campers the chance to learn more about what it really takes to meet the medical needs of our animals. During their time in the Zoo Vet Program, campers will participate in animal encounters, interactive science experiments (including dissections!), crafts, games, and other activities to help them learn more about the wild world of zoo vet medicine!

From days off of school to a date night childcare solution, Tanganyika offers many child and family programs for you and your little ones!

Cub Club

We’d love for you and your toddler to join us every Wednesday morning at 9:30 am to read a story, sing songs, and make a new animal friend.

Every Monday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, you and your preschooler can read a fun story, meet an animal friend, and visit our activity centers.

Spring Break Camp

Send your little critters to us for a spring break week filled with animal encounters, interactive lessons and demonstrations, science experiments, crafts, games, and more! This year's spring break camp theme is Fairytails at Tanganyika!

Day Camp

Join us when school isn't in session for a day of interactive lessons, animal encounters, crafts, games, and fun!

Parents' Night Out

Christmas shopping rush got you feeling crazy? Head out to pick up those last minute gifts and leave your "little critter" with us for an evening of animal-themed fun!

Children must be at least 5 years old to participate in Parent's Night Out programs.

Overnight Safaris

Do you belong in a zoo? Spend the night in style at Tanganyika with an Overnight Safari where campers explore the wide and wonderful world of nocturnal animals an have a blast along the way!

Home School Programs

Are you ready to add some amazing environmental education to your homeschool curriculum? Our Education Department will work with your homeschool class, group, or co-op to develop onsite programming that incorporates your curriculum, animal visitors, and hands-on STEM activities!

Virtual Programs

Checkout the 'Catch A Keeper' program and book a 15-20 virtual call with a keeper or educator

With our 45-minute 'Zoo to Zoom' programs, Tanganyika staff will present a fun, informative, and interactive lesson featuring two live animal visitors.

Join one of our experienced guides on a 30-minute tour around Tanganyika. Kids will visit several exhibits, learn about the animals, and have the chance to further their learning by asking questions. Please note, Guided Tours may only be scheduled Monday through Friday during the Park's "open" season (March – November).

Badge WOrkshops

Tanganyika's Badge Workshops provide Scouts with an exciting and interactive way to work towards a badge or achievement. These 2-hour workshops involve crafts, games, demonstration, hands-on activities, and animal encounters. Workshops meet most of the requirements for a particular badge or achievement.

Animal Ambassador Programs

These 30 to 45 minute programs for all ages feature live animals and artifacts. Each program is written to meet Kansas State Science Standards. Longer programs (up to 1 hour) and alternate topics may be available upon request.
