Zoo and Aquarium Month
June is National Zoo and Aquarium Month! What better way to celebrate than to visit the Tanganyika Wildlife Park? To appreciate the vital role that zoos and aquariums play in preserving the diversity of wildlife, we invite you to take part in the unique experiences that the Tanganyika Wildlife Park offers. Don’t Forget That Summer Camp Starts at the End of May (May 31)
Give your children the chance to explore wildlife and catch some summer rays in Tanganyika’s summer camp program. Running from May 31 to August 6, 2021, the camp focuses on a different animal theme each week. Children will learn about caring for animals, preserving their environments, and meeting fascinating creatures that they wouldn’t get to see anywhere else. Children will even explore the prehistoric world. The camp fees are just $150 per week, and the cost contributes to the care of our animals. We promise you a summer of fantastic fun and learning! June Monthly Exclusives
Hang with Hoppy – Hoppy is one of the oldest king vultures in the WORLD at 55 years old and he has some stories to tell. In his old age, he also enjoys naps and neck scratches. Come on down and Hang with Hoppy for the month of June only! $37 per person, all ages.
Endangered Species Tour – Join us to get up close and personal with some of the most endangered species at our park. Our education team will take you through the park to feed, get photos, and learn more about Tanganyika’s most endangered animals. Each tour will meet three different animals. You might meet our Grevy’s zebra ? with less than 3,000 left in the world, Bongos with only 600 left in the wild, Grey Crowned Crane Mae whose numbers are threatened due to habitat loss and pesticides, ruffed lemurs with only 600 animals left in Madagascar, African penguins ? who are losing nest sites for fertilizer, or the most endangered cat, the Amur leopard. $67 per person, ages 8 and up.
️Fitness Classes – Every Wednesday in June – 6 p.m
Want to get as strong as a rhino and as tough as a hippo? Come join us every Wednesday in June for a wildly different fitness class! Each week will feature a different type of class as well as a different animal to join the cooldown. You can bring your cub as we will be offering kid fitness classes as well!
Ungulate Awareness Day – June 5 – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Join us for Ungulate Awareness Day to meet some of the Park’s incredible ungulate species! During this exclusive experience, we’ll be heading to the African-Asian Barn to see where our rhinos ? sleep at night and we’ll give the red river hogs some fun enrichment. Next we’ll head to the Old Barn to see our newest male bongo up close and we’ll have a painting experience with our critically endangered Grevy’s zebras ?. Children under 3 will need to be held for the duration of the experience, please. $67 per person (walking age and up). All proceeds go to Tanganyika’s Connect and Preserve Fund.
Discover a New Side of the Zoo After Dark with the Tanganyika Twilight Tour on June 12
This once-a-year interactive event gives you behind-the-scenes access and a new perspective on our animals as well as conversations with zookeepers. For adults, the event offers wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres. Did we mention that our animals paint? Join us for the Art Walk and view the work of our trained animal artists. 100% of your ticket and auction proceeds go to support the care of endangered species here at Tanganyika Wildlife Park. Giraffe Weekend / Father’s Day
Dads and giraffes have one thing in common—they’re easy to look up to. On the weekend of June 19-20, visit the Tanganyika Wildlife Park for father-kid bonding time and encounter our giraffes! Take a photo to commemorate the experience. Is someone in your life like a father to you? Invite them to come along as well.
Camel Day – June 22 – 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Celebrate all things camel with this exclusive encounter! Meet Charlie and Meshak up close and personal and all proceeds will go to Tanganyika’s Connect and Preserve fund! Meet one of our expert camel keepers to learn more about our two special boys, help groom them, and give them some fun treats! $37 per participant.
Yoga, Wine & Waddles – June 23 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Refresh your mind, body, and spirit at Tanganyika Wildlife Park. We will start with an hour-long all-level indoor floor class, followed by a social hour with complimentary wine ? and special guest appearances by a few of Tanganyika’s cutest residents. Grab a group of friends or come solo and meet some amazing people. Make sure to bring a yoga ? mat and a water bottle. This event sells out quickly so hurry and get your $30 ticket. Refunds are available up to 48 hours before the event. Afterward, tickets are non-refundable. There will also be a youth yoga class for kids at the same time! Kids can enjoy some animal-inspired yoga poses and do fun activities.
