Discover the Ultimate Family Adventure at Tanganyika’s Splash Park, Wichita, KS

This summer is going to be a hot one. What do you have planned for those long summer days when all the kids are home? Are there any kids who want to sit at home and watch TV all summer? Most kids may act like they want to stay in, but the real fun happens when they are out exploring new things. Search “splash park, Wichita,KS” and you won’t believe what comes up.

Tanganyika Wildlife Park has you covered in multiple areas. Have you visited one of the newest splash parks near Wichita, KS? Tanganyika Falls was opened in 2020 and has quickly become a crowd favorite.

Your kids will thank you for years to come if you help them spend this summer doing all sorts of fun things. Tanganyika Wildlife Park has much to offer you and your family, including a state-of-the-art Splash Pad that kids of all ages love.

This summer, Tanganyika is going to be a hit with your kids. Imagine grabbing breakfast on your way to the park, sitting outside, and looking at the giraffes while enjoying it. After you’re done with breakfast, you can walk around the park, see all the animals and engage with wildlife at our animal encounter stations.

You could feed our lorikeets some nectar and watch the kids fall in love with birds, or you could give a giraffe a piece of lettuce. Have you ever been licked by a giraffe before? After you’ve walked around the park, you could split a giant pretzel from Luna’s Canteen before changing into your swimming suits to enjoy Tanganyika’s Splash Park, Wichita, KS, for the afternoon. After a day at Tanganyika, your kids are sure to sleep well.

What Tanganyika’s Wichita Splash Park has to offer your family

Tanganyika Falls is one of the largest Wichita Splash Parks. There are so many different interactive elements throughout the splash pad to capture the heart of almost any child. What toddler wouldn’t want to slide down a giant Alligator slide? What eight-year-old doesn’t want to spray someone with a water sprayer? And what kid (of any age) wouldn’t want to stand under either of our two dump buckets? No matter what age, there is something for everyone:

  • Cool down: A splash pad is an excellent way to cool down in the summer. There is nothing quite like hanging out with the kids and getting your toes wet to help cool off too. While I can assure you that the kids will be soaked from head to toe and probably having so much fun, you—on the other hand—can stand on one side and watch (and NOT get soaked).

Have fun at our Tanganyika Falls splash park

Besides being just plain fun, there are many scientifically proven reasons why playing in water benefits child development. For example, research has shown that playing in and around water for young children can help develop fine motor skills and, in turn, help with coordination. It can also help develop balance and strength by working muscles that your child may not be using every day.

  • Rent a Cabanalow: Just behind Tanganyika Falls, there are three beautiful Cabanalows that you can rent. What is a cabanalow? Think of it as a mix between a cabana and a bungalow. They are small buildings with an open front that face the splash park. They each have a TV, sink, minifridge, and, most importantly (for those hot summer days), a powerful ceiling fan. Ready to book your cabanalow at Tanganyika’s splash park? Wichita, KS, has your summer covered.
  • Drinks for adults:  While the splash park has something for the kids, it also has something for adults. Located directly next to Tanganyika Falls in The Thirsty Sloth, and in case the name didn’t give it away, it is a bar. The Thirsty Sloth is a small bar with multiple local craft beers on tap and frozen drinks. The best part about it is you can grab a drink and take it to the edge of the splash park to watch the kids play. Insider tip: if you keep your glass, you get a refill discount.
